Instructional Video Design Research
Many teachers have begun creating lecture videos for their students. The proliferation of electronic devices with cameras/microphones and user-friendly editing apps makes is incredibly easy to do this. The only problem is that much of the video content being created is not designed with the research in mind. In the Summer/Fall of 2015, I reviewed the literature on the topic of instructional video design and synthesized a list of ten, research-based principles that teachers and media creators could use to create effective videos for classroom settings. From that, I developed a training module that any teacher or administrator could go through individually or use to lead their staff in professional development on this topic. I had the opportunity to share this at the 2015 Texas Educator's Conference (presenter guide to the right shows a description of the sectional I led).

Portfolios for POPCS - Google Hangout with Diane and Ashley
I conducted research on the use of portfolios as a new form of assessment at Prince of Peace. After finishing my research on the topic, I set up a Google hangout with a few other teachers to share my research. Ultimately, it helped me articulate the subject much more clearly and it generated some excitement in the teachers that joined the Hangout. The video on the right is YouTube recording of the Hangout.

Google Form - Improving Edcamp POPCS
POPCS conducted their first Edcamp in the spring of 2015. In order to make the experience better, a Google form was sent to all staff asking them to rate various parts of the event and to give feedback. This helpful data will be used in the future to improve Edcamp in the future.
